Friday, July 31st, 2009President Barack Obama said Friday’s gross domestic product figures show that the $787 billion economic recovery and stimulus bill passed earlier this year is succeeding in slowing the nation’s recession. The economic figures released Friday showed that the GDP shrank by 1 percent in the second quarter of 2009, less than the 1.5 percent predicted by many economists.
Huron Consulting To Restate Financial Results, Cuts FY09 Revenue Estimate; Stock Plunges - Update
Friday, July 31st, 2009Consulting service provider Huron Consulting Group Inc. (HURN) Friday said it intends to restate financial statements for fiscal years 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 to correct its accounting for certain acquisition-related payments. Huron said earnings for the periods would be reduced substantially as a result of the restatement. Providing an update to its forecast, Huron cut revenue estimate for the full year and withdrew full year earnings outlook. Following the news, Huron Consulting shares lost nearly 50% in after hours trade on the Nasdaq.

(ANDS) surged more than 40% in late trading after the company announced that its protocol for a mid-stage trial of its investigational drug ANA598 in combination with pegylated interferon-alpha and ribavirin in hepatitis C patients has been approved by the FDA. Interferon/ribavarin combination therapy is the current standard of care for the treatment of hepatitis C virus,or HCV infection.
